Monterrei wine
The appellation Monterrei is on the eastern edge of the province of Ourense, near the border with Portugal, in Monterrei Valley, encompassing the municipalities of Verin, Monterrei, Oimbra and Castrelo do Val. The whole forms a well defined geographical unit with particular climatic and geological characteristics: fertile soil and mild climate.
White varieties are Palomino Monterrei, Verdelho, Doña Blanca, Godello and Treixadura. The inks are Alicante, Mencia, Big Black, Bastardo, Tinta Fina, and Mouratón Arauxa.
Wines made in white and red Monterrei are fresh, fruity and light moderate alcohol content. In Monterrei Palomino Fino White dominates, with 40%, and are the Great Red Monterrei Black and Grenache, with the same percentage. The Superior Monterrei has a maximum of 15% of the white Palomino, and the Great Black and red Grenache.
